  4. Before anyone asks how we can afford , mental health/ rehabilitation for all? Let me remind you of the constant "defense" spending increases that few in our country ever question. We can stand up for health of our people, we just prioritize profits instead

  6. One was anti-Bernie & now admits that he should be considered. I view that as a win. If we can get moderates to consider Bernie they will realize he is the best candidate with most popular policies to beat Trump. Minds can be changed even when it seems impossible!

  7. Something amazing that I thought was impossible happened today. My hometown Dem party majority essentially agreed Bernie is best candidate to beat Trump. All of them voted Hillary. It's taken years but the wounds of 2016 are healing, ppl want bold progressive change

The new House is what fusion politics looks like—diversity. Now we must see a moral fusion agenda. To all the new members—black, female, white, Asian, Native, Muslim Christian, immigrant—stay strong. Don’t let the system change you; change the system.

These are America's oligarchs, and this is why the corporate news media isn't talking about it

  10. Rep. Liz Cheney, daughter of Dick Cheney, yesterday attacked "the fraud of socialism." Really? I wasn't aware that it was "socialism" that lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and got us into a horrific war that we should never have started.

  12. We must end US arms sales to Saudi Arabia. SA is carrying out a genocide of the Yemeni people using our planes, our bombs, our technicians and pilots that we trained. Air strikes have killed over 4,600 civilians. Starvation and cholera from blockades have killed thousands more.

Here’s a radical idea: Let’s stop arresting people for smoking marijuana and start arresting the crooks at Wells Fargo and Wall Street who have caused so much economic pain to millions of Americans.

is idiotic fiscal policy straight from Paul Ryan’s worldview of austerity economics. The new Democratic majority just disarmed its own ability to govern and legislate. Disappointing and discouraging.

New math: 235 total House Dems Only 3 voted against austerity. So, if we get 3 true progressives each election cycle through primarying Dems, it will only take.....40 years until they make up a majority of elected Dems. Tell me again how going 3rd party will take too long?

Don't conflate the House rule with the statute - both should be scrapped. The House, the Senate & the White House all need to be in agreement in order to repeal the statute. But the House can scrap the rule with zero unintended consequences. (more...)

This is how absurd PAYGO is: We campaigned in the Better Deal for $1 trillion in infrastructure spending over 10 years. Under PAYGO, if after 6 years that plan wld produce a deficit, it would not be in order — even if in 10 years it wld create 16 million jobs and revenue growth!
