I started to weep writing this. I once chaired a department of some 12 full-time faculty and 14 part-time faculty serving more the 1200 students every semester. 8/

Brooklyn College tuition cost less than 7k a year. We have had one of the strongest and most diverse Classics faculties in the country. We still serve an incredibly diverse student body (less than 27% white) 9/

I love my job, but it so hard. I don't for a second blame any of these smart smart colleagues for seizing their opportunities. 10/
