Comparing isolates is a poor way to test the effects of specific mutations. Show me that A82V does not alter replication or pathogenesis in animals using a reverse genetics system, then I will be convinced.

Testing a RG clone is necessary because the early viruses used in this study (C5,C7,C15) ALL have TC adaptive mutations in the fusion loop of GP2. These mutations alter GP similarly to A82V but with a greater effect on fusogenicity.
