in ER setting or even an affiliated hospital laboratory, can resources be allocated to manually run an ELISA by hand? Your looking at ~8hrs minimum getting that data. Maybe 6hrs if equipped with rapid cytokine panel (most dont do this), sadly quick decisions need to be made.

Yes, I clocked that! Other coincidence - Low zinc impairs smell/taste - a symptom of Covid. IL6 demands loads of Zinc. Post menopause women surviving better than men. Estrogen is an IL6 inhibitor & ps Soya contains plant Estrogen.....low death levels in high Soya diet countries!

Montelukast, routinely prescribed as a prophylactic against asthma, inhibits IL-6 productions. I wonder if it should be be prescribed for newly diagnosed patients with pre-existing pulmonary issues,upon the onset of symptoms.

You must continue taking, IL 6 is only a biological marker and can be modified by various causes, the clinic presented by the patient is important.
