Why do you think cases are likely to be as much as 10x underestimated? I haven't seen such claims from epidemiologists, or perhaps I've missed something.

Once there is a test, only tested cases are officially counted, but many aren't tested, especially those with fewest symptoms in an epidemic.

Those estimates may be underestimation since some of the cases included as confirmed are still in progress, therefore the denominator for death rate calculations is larger than it should. The mortality rate should be calculated over the total cases closed

We know of two doctors under 39 who died from COVID19, it’s probably a statistical aberration but it’s enough to make me question the mortality rate in that table.
