After polio vaccine, I became paralyzed for 7 months. My mother felt apart. My dad is a medical doctor who told me that happened. No clue how it went wrong or how I got my legs motion next. So weird. Anyway, even after this, all my youngest sisters didn't miss any if their shots.

Honestly, Vincent, we have been so lucky with vaccinations in the past that people no longer look at large numbers of people but focus on their own...and they look for connections that may not be real.

My mother and father (RIP) used to say in the 1950s, every parent feared the spring and summer due to polio.

True fear. But irrational. Also "selfish" as it were. Essentially, it makes sense in a "selfish game theory" standpoint for parents to not vaccinate when risk is seen as low. They let their kids benefit with the risk just to all other kids from adverse events.
