NIH Grant lottery might be among the worst ideas ever.
On the fence about @biorxivpreprint . Some benefits, some costs
I appreciate @ACasadevall1 arguments for NIH grant lottery, but the US government, replete with rules and bureaucracy, will never do this. I also do not think bioRxiv is the answer for removing toxic journals. These are great points for discussing the issues but not solutions.

There are other funding agencies outside the US government that can lead the way and show that a grant lottery is the way to go. I guess the model of the grant lottery is not restricted to the NIH? :O
