2/ Firstly big thanks to @podehaye of @PersonalDataIO for guiding me thru data request process and funding £10 SCL fee. We all owe a debt.

3/ Will share some screenshots of my data but impt to realize I had to provide my drivers license and utility bill to prove my ID to SCL.

4/ Here is letter provided by Cambridge Analytica/SCL with request describing data protection policy jurisdictions and their data sourcing.pic.twitter.com/mrOmr4qPlf

5/ Here are CA/SCL’s row names for the core voter data. The data here is accurate and mostly complete for me. (Not showing for privacy).pic.twitter.com/yOs0e3X0x6

6/ Here are the election returns data connected to my CA/SCL voter profile. Incomplete results but accurate to my districts.pic.twitter.com/8BZM03UVXo
-
7/ Here is CA/SCL voter issue profile/propensity model on me. I’d rank this somewhat differently but feels roughly accurate. Could be worse.pic.twitter.com/n4x3IRQrL8

8/ That’s it. No explicit psychographic scores. No signs of linked consumer and media consumption behavior data. Less than I thought I’d get
-
9/ Perhaps this is a garden-variety voter surveillance dossier, nothing unique about CA/SCL. Even still, it’s disturbing to see it raw here.
-
10/ Important to re-read the CA/SCL data request letter. Not everything disclosed. Much shrouded in trade secret or derived from other data.
-
11/ Check your confirmation bias either way. Doesn't prove much definitively, mostly just shows how SCL is subject to UK data protection law
-
12/ We know from reporting that CA/SCL probably didn't deploy psychographics for '16 but expect them to try to deploy in '18, '20 and beyond
-
13/ Many think laws may have been violated here.
@RaviNa1k has been instructed to be my solicitor in London in a legal action against SCL. -
14/ In case there was any doubt that Cambridge Analytica is part of SCL. Wheatland is signatory of my letter above.https://twitter.com/annmarlowe/status/855466996028321792 …

15/ As we suspect, increasingly doubtful that SCL provided us with a complete Subject Access Request per UK DPA.https://twitter.com/carolecadwalla/status/861609299096875008 …

16/ An important development:
@ICOnews opens a formal investigation that directly impacts Cambridge Analytica/SCL.https://twitter.com/iconews/status/864841450529468416 …

17/ Haven't heard from SCL Elections, agent acting on behalf of Cambridge Analytica, since they "deleted" themselveshttps://twitter.com/profcarroll/status/875047342998773760 …

18/ We’ve launched a
@CrowdJustice campaign after unsatisfactory responses from SCL, to challenge UK DPA compliance.https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/oct/01/cambridge-analytica-big-data-facebook-trump-voters?CMP=share_btn_tw … -

The data in itself is just information... it's the way it's used that opens the ethical dilemma. It could also be used to improve lives.
-
It's a privacy rights issue in US. No right to request this data from US company. Only eligible to receive it because data processed in UK.
-
Yes the privacy issue is another dimension. Different national laws controlling data are a joke in this age when it is effortless to move.
-
Starting next year GDPR will be a stronger unifying force for better global data practices being driven by world's largest economic block.
-
But if personal data remains as a commodity that can be bought, it will be used by those with $$ to serve their own interests.
-
Pandora's box is already open but GDPR lays down some badly needed guardrails, transparency, and accountability. EU as a data haven.
