    Should I feel jealous as a Yemeni citizen? How weird and irresponsible to feel so. civilians do deserve such commission and even more. However, I have the right to feel disgusted with this dirty world.

    This, this, this. It’s incredible to see so many people speaking out, businesses organizing fundraisers and collections. And heartbreaking they never felt moved to do so while people starved and suffered in Yemen, Syria, Myanmar, South Sudan…

    The past week has been very illuminating as I find out people who’ve been silent about international conflicts aren’t actually apolitical. They just haven’t cared to speak about any other conflict until this one.

    Every journalist covering Ukraine should really, really look internally. This is why I say we should stop pretending we have objectivity and in instead acknowledge our biases so that we can report against them. Many of us see the racialized analysis and language.

    I'm going to start a thread of these incidents of insidious racism in the media coverage of the Ukrainian crisis, because I've just been seeing so damn many.
