Ironically this is the only thing throughout every lockdown that’s never stopped 24/7.

Convenient that a minister of a country north of the European landmass thinks it should be law that asylum seekers settle in the first safe country they come to, it's almost like you designed the rules so as to attempt to force other countries to take even more of the burden...

"Today we're introducing the landmark 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹 into Parliament. We're taking action to play to our dangerously racist anti-immigration base in the UK & create a new asylum system that demonises those in genuine need. Fascist & unfair.

If your life was at risk through war & persecution. Why upon finding multiple safe countries would you then further risk your life by crossing the channel unnecessarily? They're economic migrants being sold a dream by traffickers, end of.

All migrants will have traveled thru a safe country. We should work with EU to set up controlled asylum stations in border countries so migrants are rapidly processed (in 7 days) and then allowed to go to country of choice if within guidelines or returned to home country if not.

I don't see anything "firm and fair" in this plan. Its good to clamp down on gangs that illegally smuggle people, but please try to show some compassion for people fleeing conflict or displacement by matters beyond their control.

There was no conflict in France last time I looked.
