Why would the colour of your skin alter the value of an idea? if someone thinks a determinate race shoudn't exist, why does it matter the direction of that hatred matter? The value is in the content of the argument, not in the speaker who says so.
-
It's not about the skin colour altering your idea. It's about your experiences as that skin colour giving you a different perception.
-
I agree that your circumstances can alter your perspective on things, different experiences craft different ideas. The only way I see that argument work is as an argument from personal experience, which is not very useful?
-
It's not just about arguments. It's about everything you write on the internet. It's all shaped by that fact that you're a (race), (gender), (sexual orientation). It does matter, even if it's not an every day issue that comes up. The idea of colourblind is a very white notion
-
that tells the rest of us to basically erase our experiences and identities because white folk are uncomfortable with the fact ideas/cultures/values are different and shaped differently and celebrated differently.
-
It's hard for me to tell if you think i'm white and it's a statement about me or just a general statement. either way, i think ideas/cultures/values should aim to progress towards something objectively better, no matter where that improvement comes from.
-
It's general about colourblindness. It's a white notion that strips people of culture, experience, and identity no matter who is perpetuating it. Before 1930, Mulattos were an actual legal race. Half black/half white. Our kids were quadroons, our grandkids octaroons.

"A white person’s thoughts about race don’t matter as much as a person of color’s." - I understand the basic point of being open to people of different backgrounds and listening to others, but your statement is still an example of discrimination.
-
It's just like saying a baker's thoughts about cars maintenance don't matter as much as a mechanic. For one it's an every day part of their life, for the other it's not. That's the difference. I don't think that's being discriminatory toward bakers, they're just less equipped.
-
the racist part of the statement isn't that people with more experience with a subject are more adecuate to speak about it, it is that you can assume a person's experiences by their skin. you can be black and experience 0 racism, you can be white and experience racism.

This is the most backwards shit ive ever seen jfc. Stop judging someone on what group they're a part of and start looking at every person as an individual

Uh, no. Everyone's thoughts are equally valid. Saying otherwise is just another kind of bigotry, just like the racism you think you are fighting. People weigh the words of others based in part on their background/experience but that is a very different, individual thing.
