The NFL/kneeling issue has literally nothing to do with the First Amendment.
But it has everything to do with the culture of free expression, which #1A was intended to support.

No.... it wasn't. 1A protects people from government suppression of speech/expression, not corporate policy.

I know what
#1A does constitutionally and legally. My point is that it was _also_ intended to sustain and promote a social and cultural norm of free expression, e.g. among citizens, media, and corporations. Many corporations now violate the spirit of that free speech norm. - 2 more replies
