It's legal for NFL to fine its players, just as it was legal for Google to fire James Damore, & for YouTube to demonetize certain videos.
@DavidFrum is right. All are legal—but all are wrong. Crying about free speech in Damore's case while also defending the NFL is hypocritical.
But the culture of free speech is more important than the legality of free speech.

That's exactly what I'm saying. These are all legal, but that doesn't make them right. Defending the NFL just on the basis of legality is as shortsighted as defending Google's firing of Damore just on the basis of legality.
