Good article, except populism isn't opposed go democracy. Populism is the logical outcome of democracy, the absorbing equilibrium of democratic politics. Complicated for Twitter, but one can oppose public democracy, while endorsing private democracy. The difference is in the voluntary nature of self-subjecting to majority rule. The trouble with populism is that its an expression of public democracy.
