Maybe. But maybe we're trying to be the first generation in history to expect that we've resolved all of our personal issues before we're 'worthy' of a relationship? There's also a danger in that, IMHO.

Yers rather obvious. But it possible that unhappy people, eg mentally or physically unwell, tend to procreate less? Does the sense of meaning correlate with how many kids, or whether they have all survived - are these details studied?

Not studied nearly enough.

This seems fraught in the same way that asking people if they regret having kids is fraught. Everyone knows that kids are supposed to give your life meaning, so if you say you don't have a strong sense of meaning, it's like saying you don't love your children.

Many people are happy without children, I am one of them. Peace of mind is undervalued in our society. There is nothing wrong with not wanting children.

One needs only be awoke, to know meaning in life. Child rearing without being awoke will give meaning not otherwise experienced as it moves one beyond one's self. Being awoke goes further than parenting, ergo, meaning is within each of us & it takes a village to raise a child.

And less hair. More facial ticks. An upsetting in alcohol use. At least that was my experience.
