That’s it. I’m no longer identifying as an evolutionary psychologist because I can’t stop the public from associating the field with stuff like this. I honestly can’t tell if he’s serious or trolling anymore.https://twitter.com/primalpoly/status/992538975087747072 …

One simple way to avoid 'involuntary celibacy' is for straight men to wear shoes that are not sexually repulsive on the first date. Women have strong & consistent preferences about shoes, and most American guys fail at this: http://observer.com/2015/09/7-pieces-of-shoe-advice-for-men-from-434-single-women/ …

What's your problem with it, Lisa? This was never intended as publishable evolutionary psych research. It simply offers practical, evidence-based insight into women's aesthetic preferences, for men seeking dating advice.

Fails to take any account of who's wearing the shoes Geoffrey. My wife informs me that Brad Pitt could turn up to a date wearing oversized clown shoes and she wouldn't find them repulsive. More likely that women are weighing several criteria at once.

Get serious. Did we ever claim that this is the ONLY criterion used by women, or even that it's in the top 50 criteria? No. Only that it's easy and cheap to improve, and most American men wear bad shoes, according to American women.

Gosh no Geoffrey, you didn't claim that. Of course you didn't exactly spell out its usefulness either. Not even in the top 50 you say? But that wasn't even my point. Women probably make judgements based on the whole at once, rather than hierarchical partshttps://www.amazon.com/Master-His-Emissary-Divided-Western/dp/0300188374 …

Well speaking as a guy (your likely demographic ) when you say 'This is a good suggestion', then yes, I would assume this is among the top 50 factors, otherwise why is a supposedly reputable PHD psychologist saying? If it's factor 263 in importance, the article is b.s.

And that's ignoring the incel thing at the top. Sure , you're a very angry self hating depressed guy who believes women hate but it's wearing sneakers that's the problem. Don't give social science a bad name.
