That’s it. I’m no longer identifying as an evolutionary psychologist because I can’t stop the public from associating the field with stuff like this. I honestly can’t tell if he’s serious or trolling anymore.https://twitter.com/primalpoly/status/992538975087747072 …

I think this tweet was poorly worded, yeah, but also the fact you - as a visible figure within the field - are writing things with Tucker Max is a continued embarrassment to EP (which already has quite the image problem). Definitely getting it the wrong kind of popular press.

Who's really embarrassing ev psych - the people trying to do public outreach that's genuinely accessible, or the people using 'guilt by association' and PC orthodoxy as ways to judge other people's scientific and societal contributions?

The framing, as help for incels when an incel just killed some people, was gauche. If you had just said "here is some dating advice for men" rather than, "here is some dating advice for a group of people who just murdered other people" I don't think people would have minded.

correction *a guy who identified as an incel* rather than the group itself, killed people

Fails to take any account of who's wearing the shoes Geoffrey. My wife informs me that Brad Pitt could turn up to a date wearing oversized clown shoes and she wouldn't find them repulsive. More likely that women are weighing several criteria at once.

Get serious. Did we ever claim that this is the ONLY criterion used by women, or even that it's in the top 50 criteria? No. Only that it's easy and cheap to improve, and most American men wear bad shoes, according to American women.
