A small fraction of the poly community appears to be serious about the ethical, evolutionary and the game theoretic issues. But there are two flies in the ointment, as I see it. Who said anything about restrictions? As for the rest, seems like ethical polyamory is built around the idea that there are foreseeable negative effects and they should be comprehended and managed to minimize harm. How is discussing the potential harm to others not in keeping?

I'm not sure saying that it won't serve us well and could affect civilisation indicates a wish to restrict freedoms. However, I too think there is insufficient evidence to think this will be the case. There's certainly some dust that needs to settle as we work out these changes.

Not ethical ones, no. And we do really have to go with what is ethical and try to deal with any fallout there may be. And there could certainly be some related to women's greater choosiness and also our ability to manage on our own now. That still hasn't stabilised really.
