The US has 325 million people. If it had totally open borders, with no immigration restrictions at all, how much would its population increase within 10 years?

I’d be curious to see what that number is today.

And you think people can only come into the US from South America?

My guess is this is Americans answering this, and seriously overestimating how much foreigners want to be here. The bloom is off the American rose worldwide; greedy, closed-minded, entitled, hypocritical seems to increasingly be the view since 2003.

I’d guess ~50 million in addition to normal population growth? It’d still be really expensive for people living on a dollar a day to move there. Plus, migrants often return home after making enough money; they miss their families and culture (http://www.pewhispanic.org/2015/11/19/more-mexicans-leaving-than-coming-to-the-u-s/ …).

20 million is pushing it. I have no idea how you can build housing for “way over” 100 million people within 10 years.

You would hit half a billion before we became undesirable as a destination. there would be a brief outflow and then "pretty damn horrible" America would trundle around until a re forming of the country was attempted (to include sci fi violence)
