Such a party would only be a caretaker. The novelty of our 21st century predicament requires something a great deal more visionary. For real vision, we'd need a gov't guided by Effective Altruism principles, determined to minimize existential risks, and keen on Mars. Such long-term thinking might not sell in a democracy though.

Hard to do on Twitter, but I suspect we agree--> Minimal incentive structures necessary to cause the EA vision to arise naturally from competition. I think you'd be surprised what people would embrace if we could escape the pitched battle between false political narratives.

Completely agree although I'd replace mars with developing a brain computer interface/AI. However, Mars sells better as an idea.

Love SpaceX, but Bezos has the better idea. All human environments off Earth must be 100% purpose built. Better to build spinning, orbital habitats than down a gravity well (with a meh atmosphere, and no magnetic field).
