Is there any website/term you can direct me to that talks about the idea of controlled pain sessions as therapy? Very similar to the BDSM scene, except without the 'fetish' or 'sex' parts.
I've reviewed most of the BDSM literature in psychology and social sciences, and never ran across anything on controlled pain sessions as therapy, FWIW.

Does anyone have a good explanation for why BDSM is a thing for anyone? It seems pretty counterintuitive, and I've never seen a deep dive into its psychological origin.
