Most #scicomm is pursuing the wrong goal. Many treat it like charity work, explaining science to the masses. *Communication* is a two-way channel, not one way. Science must *listen* to people.

Agree. It's like teaching science -- teaching is hard to do if you don't listen to what students already know, what misconceptions they have, what they find puzzling, etc. Science outreach with ordinary citizens is similar.
