The reason I detest IQ as our measure of intelligence is that it is pretty good. It would be far better if it was either absolutely amazing or obviously wrong. We can’t afford pretty good. A pretty good metric for cognition which some say is great can be a true social nightmare.

I presume that people who keep online activity to the minimum get the highest score.

An interesting paper which comes close to this: http://www.pnas.org/content/110/15/5802 … They get r^2= 0.39 predicting IQ scores using Facebook likes, with n=1350. With Facebook or Google's data, yeah, you could get pretty close…

Highlight: For example, the best predictors of high intelligence include “Thunderstorms,” “The Colbert Report,” “Science,” and “Curly Fries,” whereas low intelligence was indicated by “Sephora,” “I Love Being A Mom,” “Harley Davidson,” and “Lady Antebellum.”

It would be hard for them to summon the will to develop an IQ test than to actually develop it!

This is interesting because the domain is incredibly large (images, text, friends), so I’d imagine you can learn just about any function. But what what is the mapping to?

This would be a horrible idea. Think how poorly the Google flu trends project turned out.

@primalpoly, do you agree IQ tests are a "social nightmare?" Do you have any opinions on what could happen if we ignored IQ and inevitably went with a false hypothesis instead? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Intrigued by this idea, even though it uncomfortable. Also, English intellectuals need to ease it on the grammar of multilingual speakers. Never stops surprising me how little tolerance there can be. Even though they themselves only speak one language. Seen you do that sir ;).

I doubt that very much.

Intelligence is much more fat-tailed (esp on right tail) than IQ would imply. The problem are distributional assumptions.
