If public university admins could fire any faculty who say things they find offensive, then they would fire every tenured professor who supports #2A, believes in two sexes, or takes pride in Western Civilization. Is that what you want?

Your point is well taken. It was not that what she said was offensive, though it was, it was that the way in which she said it was unprofessional. I am not sure, but I would think the university would have a case.
