America is run by lawyers trained to argue. China is run by engineers trained to understand technology. I wonder which kind of training will prove most useful in a highly technological future.

This might be a paradox of constitutional liberalism and individualism. Such societies tend to be highly litigious. (Canada became significantly more litigious after it adopted a constitution).
