But isn't this also true of mastering legalize? In my experience, many young scientists are very keen on popular science outreach and learning to explain complex ideas in accessible ways. It's required for teaching, grant-getting, and job talks.

This is definitely a massive problem and was made painfully clear this week.

Some one once asked @ProfBrianCox why he doesn't get into politics. He answered that he can do more good in science (tried and failed to find a clip...) I suspect a fair few of us in STEM feel the same.

This is a disgrace. You would think legislators, whose job it is to write and evaluate laws, would know better than to study law.
