Suggested heuristic: don't retaliate against another country's alleged attack unless our leaders can give a clear estimate of the % likelihood that the alleged attack was a false flag. If their estimate is under 5%, they're lying. If their estimate is over 20%, wait and see.

We wouldn't be in this situation in the first place if our leaders took our opinions on war into consideration. False flag or not, the decision was already made, they were just waiting for an excuse.

Wouldn’t just following the dictates of the War Powers Act solve most of this problem?

Have you read Niccolò Machiavelli's "The Prince" lately? What heuristic would the prince apply here?

Suspect false flag as excuse to make Assad an expensive client for Russia, impair Syrias ability to facilitate Iran support of hezbollah and maybe further some domestic political agendas. But feeling like I'm missing some key pieces that could change base read. Your thoughts?

So anything between 5% and 20% would keep the option of attack on the table?
