But then Paul Ryan announced he wouldn't be seeking re-election, and I had to get a column in the hopper. So here we go, better late than never.

1) How can you compare political beliefs to being an underrepresented minority? Political beliefs are chosen. URMs are excluded based on immutable characteristics.

Political attitudes are about as heritable as other personality traits. They're not freely chosen, empirically. Maybe they should be, but that's a utopian thought experiment.
