I think they were both unable to see valid points in the other perspective. For instance, I think Klein is right that Sam has done a very poor job of exploring historical/cultural issues around race (particularly since they are so very much related to The Bell Curve debacle).

Is anyone really surprised that human beings (on the whole) have a hard time discussing scientific findings dispassionately and rationally? In the public sphere, it is absurd to expect this.

Agreed. But I didn't really expect anything else from Klein. Imagine if he had just said, "Yep. You are probably right." His considerable status on the Left would have evaporated in 5 seconds. I don't look for truth from people who are strongly disincentivized from speaking it
