I'm skeptical of this solution to the paradox. It feels more like an appeal to resist fitness-faking tech—with a hint of neo-luddism, perhaps. Thing is, everyone won't fall into the WALL-E future. It only takes a few to break free of Earth (or any other planet) to spread life.

I did. If the last third is true, then the Fermi paradox shouldn't exist. If heritable variation → lineages to resist the Great Temptation, we should see aliens everywhere. ... ... Unless the Great Temptation acts like a Great Filter, which doesn't seem to fit variation.
