Is it really that common to not be able to do more good than harm? That seems like a very low bar for someone with an evidence-based approach. Like surely you could at least pull off a 51% chance of doing net good.

IMHO it's a lot easier to do good when we're not intervening in existing conflicts between highly polarized opponents. Reducing factory farming seems more likely to result in a low-cost win than trying to nation-build in regions torn by conflict.

How many kids would need to be gassed before it became unethical to leave Assad in power? Isolationism has consequences, irrelevant of who's "business" it is. I'm not sure what should be done, but I think that "more good than harm" statement needs to be qualified.

Help their economic growth, education, and public health. Don't overthrow their govt's if we don't know what the effects will be.

Hey Geoffrey, am reading your book “Mate” and wonder if the sexual preferences of 18-30 yr olds remains constant in 2018, I see so many youngsters going for the skinny as a rail type

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it. I don't really know whether physical prefs have changed in the last couple of years, but I doubt there's been much of a shift.
