Would be interesting to see typed material compared with dictated. Dictation software is good enough now to get almost perfect accuracy.
Want to write better? Type slower, even just using one hand -- it forces more thought per word, increasing vocabulary precision, sentence complexity, & argument coherence. Nice 3-experiment study. Slowly read out loud what I've written. Make some changes. Add some more material. Repeat.

FWIW I sat and read my whole book aloud after I'd written the first draft, continually going back to make edits and read again. Must've sounded quite, quite mad.

A lower left arm amputee, I was disappointed when returning to work because keyboarding skills acquired in primary school were lost. I began using a half-QWERTY keyboard supporting 1-handed QWERTY keyboard use & now prefer 'naked' 1-handed keyboarding for the reasons suggested.
