It’s a private institution, they can do what they want.
Are private companies allowed to discriminate against job applicants based on race?

That’s an interesting point. Are private clubs allowed to discriminate by race? Basically the entire Ivy League would be Asian if they didn’t discriminate by race, but maybe that is the most ethical solution.
