Do you think that the % of mentally ill to mentally sound people is in any way proportionate to the validity of the ideas presented? Why/why not?

Or are unstable people just attracted to new—and hence, unstable—movements, whether the ideas behind them are right or not? Or is there some other mechanism at work?
