I'd also say that even if the left were more ignorant of the constitution/guns than they already are, their concerns and motivations aren't totally irrational. They're worried about their kids being shot at school, and - even if we reduce it to stats - they have reason to be.
Availability bias. Parents have _much_ more reason to worry about untreated depression & suicide risk than school shootings, but it gets much less press coverage. It's heartbreaking how many teens don't get the mental health care they need. @NAMICommunicate is worth supporting

I have no doubt of those numbers. But, by that same logic, what is the likelihood that the average American civ will have to pull a gun in self defense? Fire shots against a tyrannical gov't? Should citizens give up their guns due to the unlikelihood of those things happening?
