It’s possible to argue repeal of the 2A based on relatively pure political/social theory. That is not true about policy proposals aimed at regulating firearm ownership/use—outside outright 100% bans, of course. Here some level of basic knowledge is essential.

Yep. And I suspect the willful ignorance only fuels the skepticism with which they are viewed by pro-gun ppl. e.g. “Maybe they’re not interested in learning b/c the ultimate goal isn’t regulation, but an outright ban?” Either way, the ignorance is tactically quite stupid.
