These are kids looking for help. I think it’s unreasonable to not offer help until they meet some criteria defined by you, but maybe that’s just me. I’m just glad I’ve never needed help with anything in my life—assume the same goes for you.
I'd be happy to offer my guidance if they asked for it. I provided two useful technical terms they can Google in the meanwhile.

If I asked for help while I was drowning and you threw me an anchor even if I asked for one does that make it the right thing to do? These kids are asking for an anchor not a solution to their drowning.
