If the government bans semi-auto rifles, how will it confiscate more than 50 million semi-auto rifles owned by American citizens as their constitutional right? This proposal isn't 'common sense gun control'. It's a trigger for outright civil war.
It sure would start civil war. The red states would not tolerate this.

Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I don't think the courts would either. They'd have to drastically change the current interpretation of the 2nd amendment.
