I actually can't tell whether you're being sarcastic about the world ending... Wouldn't universities just comply with astonishing speed and efficiency, like they did with Obama's 'Dear Colleague' Title IX letter (utterly misguided though it was)?

The Constitution is an anti-authoritarian document. For Donald Trump to weild it against left-authoritarians in a manner that would force them to cry authoritarian-foul even as they reveal their full hostility to free speech... It's the political equivilent of deviding by zero.

Don't see that private universities have any obligation to provide 1A protections.

They do if they promise it in recruitment materials. Then they're contractually but not constitutionally obligated.
