I tend to believe in some amount of personal responsibility. But leaving that aside, are you saying the right-wing media pushes the narrative that things are getting better? On education, I grew up in a farm town. The education I got wasn't Leftist but it wasn't optimistic either

I'm not disagreeing with your larger point, simply trying to say that education and media extend beyond ivory towers and comedy news shows. I can't muster enough data to convince my right-leaning family and friends that life is getting better--particularly if they are religious.
