Yes, as a sex researcher, I'm well aware of how the Religious Right can also be extremely censorious and brutal in de-funding research they don't like. The problem there is the ideological climate in government, not on campuses.

Most of my career problems have come from working in EP; it's an incredibly stigmatized field, and most folks in psychology hate it and don't understand it...

Also for clarification, not looking at this as a partisan issue. Social science gets opposition from both sides of the aisle, albeit for different reasons. Take EP. Rel R doesn't like the evolution aspect, L doesn't like psychological sexual dimorphism.
