The Left is obsessed with guilt by association because they can't imagine people changing their minds through reason and evidence rather than through peer pressure and social influence.

1/ On the whole, they still hold a greater hope for reason and evidence than do the right. If anything I'd say liberals are naive when it comes to the ability to convince ppl to change. Psychometrics indicates many political traits are baked in the cake already.
