The only thing I have ever been saying is that diversity of participants increases diversity of views and that’s a good thing, and I’m still feeling good about that one
Why not just select for viewpoint diversity directly if that's the goal? Why use demographic proxies?

Because selecting by view just means ending up with a specified set of views. Picking by other things means you don’t know what you’re getting AND you help people who have been screwed over. Win win
