There are lots of academic departments with high demographic diversity and very low ideological or political diversity (e.g. 90% Leftist activists). See @HdxAcademy for why this is a problem.

The assumption here, of course, that that political diversity is the expected distribution in an academic department. There are many reasons to think that’s not true and they don’t all involve on purpose bias
