Philosophy, for whatever reasons, seems to have the most skewed sex ratio of male:female geniuses of almost any field. I know history of philosophy pretty well, and struggle to name more than a few truly influential women before the 20th century. Oxford's misguided.

I don't see it as a huge mystery that before widespread birth control women generally didn't have time & space to build comprehensive phil systems across decades. If you go back to heydays of the Church though: nuns, saints, mothers superior-there are some v interesting thinkers.
