Because more people die from drowning that somehow makes the 374 people killed but assault rifles less significant? Not the best reasoning.
It makes them 1/10 as significant in terms of policy priorities. Utilitarianism 101.

That's only if all things are held equal. Accidental drowning is not the same as efficient homicide.
