ah, so you're saying we need to expand gun reform to beyond just 'assault rifles' (in 2016, there were more than 38,000 gun-related deaths in the U.S.)

I'm implying that maybe 'gun control' advocates should pay attention to relative risks when suggesting policy interventions. That's all. If they want to argue for a ban on handguns, they can go ahead and do that.

The rhetoric pushed out by the anti-gun left is not necessarily correct either. To do a full comparison one would have to look at defensive uses of rifles to save lives as the 300+ plus caused by them. If an AR saves 2,000 lives a year is it worth banning?

We do have good historical evidence that tyrants almost always try to disarm civilians before they commit mass murder. That's the most important piece of evidence relevant to the whole point of #2A. Not deterring isolated crimes.
