Serge was my MA thesis adviser at UBC. TJ Clark was his PhD adviser at UCLA, and mine at Harvard (TJ moved to Harvard eventually, after UCLA, via a couple of other places). Small world? ;)

You really think that "the left" hates beauty? I've seen beautiful modern art from artists with diverse political backgrounds. Maybe you're imposing your personal preference as true beauty. Or you've failed to notice the beautiful art presently being made.
