I really don't like that quote. Better to offer an argument why that law is important, rather than dismiss the opinions of people who haven't come across it (ie most people). Also, it is only counterintuitive if offered in a poorly framed fashion. Better presented it is obvious.

I happened to be teaching foreign trade and protectionism when POTUS made the Steel and Aluminum Tariffs statement. It was a rare pleasure explaining to students about how tariffs would affect consumers and workers, especially the latter from industries consuming these goods.
