As an Indian studying in UK, I am appalled by the number of times I get attacked for stating mere scientific studies. I have more lively and open discussions with friends back home in India. Every word here in conversations is measured. No intimacy, no bonding, no connections.
I'm really sorry that the UK is so stifling. It wasn't so much in the 90s when I worked there. It can be very lonely and exhausting to self-censor all the time.

Thanks. I realize I come off as a victim. I am not. I am thick skinned and a loner anyways. Just wanted to back you up on my observation of pc culture being short sighted, regressive, alienating and self defeating. Great article btw. Good insights.
